Dear Jenkintown Families,
We are seeking parent and guardian interest in serving on a district advisory committee focused on student belonging, equity, and inclusive practices. This group, historically known as the District DEI Committee, operates under a School Board approved charter.
The committee serves in an advisory role to district administration, offering input aligned with the District’s Annual Goals and Comprehensive Plan. Its work centers on ensuring all students feel welcomed, supported, and valued, and have fair access to the opportunities and resources they need to thrive.
Originally formed in 2021, the committee will be reviewing its current charter and setting priorities for this school year and beyond. Dr. Ernesto Ortiz and I are seeking up to four parents/guardians to join the committee.
Committee members help:
-
Advise on district initiatives related to climate, belonging, and equity.
-
Identify opportunities to build awareness and shared understanding.
-
Explore resources and partnerships within the school and broader community.
-
Share progress and updates with the school community.
Members are encouraged to commit to a two-year term. The committee meets quarterly, with the first meeting planned as a virtual session on Thursday, January 29, at 6:00 pm.
If you are interested, please submit your interest using this Google Form by Friday, January 23rd. Thank you for your continued engagement and partnership in the work of our district.
Sincerely,
Steve
