All absences, latenesses and early dismissals should be communicated via the attached absence notes or via email to your student’s building secretary.

Excused Absences are granted for the following reasons: illness, death in the family, religious holidays, health care, college visits and exceptionally urgent reasons. We recommend that you provide a medical note to the main office anytime your child is absent and sees a doctor. Absences with a doctor’s note as deemed “Medically Excused.” After the 10th absence excused by a parent/guardian, a medical note must be provided for all subsequent absences. If a medical note is not provided, the absence is considered “Unexcused.”
Three or more unexcused absences may require a school-family conference to discuss truancy and develop a School Attendance Improvement Plan (SAIP). Additional unexcused absences will result in referral to the district magistrate.
If there is an ongoing medical condition in which frequent absences or latenesses are necessary, a doctor’s note is required at the beginning of each school year. This will ensure that absences and latenesses are excused when referencing the “note on file.
Medical notes may be submitted and uploaded to an email to the building secretary.
