Dear Jenkintown Community,

This message is to share our planning and preparations related to the potential for severe winter weather this weekend. As you may be aware, current forecasting models have been inconsistent regarding both the timing and impact of possible snow and ice. Outlined below are our plans should severe or significant snowfall result in school closures next week.

Daily Breakdown

  • Monday, January 26th
      • If weather conditions require us to close schools, this will be a traditional snow day for all students.
        • As a result, school would be held on Tuesday, May 26th.
  • Tuesday, January 27th
      • If conditions require a closure, this will also be a traditional snow day for all students.
        • As a result, school would be held on Monday, April 6th.
  • Wednesday, January 28th
    • If conditions require a closure, this will be our first Flexible Instruction Day (FID). On a FID, students are expected to sign into their school-issued devices to receive synchronous, direct instruction from their teacher(s).
    • Families are encouraged to review schedules, expectations, and helpful reminders on the Flexible Instruction Day page of our website.

To ensure we are fully prepared for the possibility of a Flexible Instruction Day on Wednesday, all students in grades K-12 will be reminded to bring their Chromebook home on Friday. Students should be prepared to participate in a Flexible Instruction Day, if needed on Wednesday.

As always, student and staff safety will remain our top priority and our team will be working diligently to ensure our campus is safe and accessible when school resumes. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we monitor conditions and communicate updates to the community.

Sincerely,

Steve
