Welcome Dr. Brea D’Angelo: Jenkintown’s Next Superintendent
It is with great pleasure that the Board of School Directors for the Jenkintown School District expects to appoint Dr. Brea D’Angelo to the role of Superintendent on Monday, April 20. Her appointment will become effective on July 13, 2026.
Dr. D’Angelo joins us from the Hatboro-Horsham School District, where she currently serves as the Director of Educational Affairs. An administrator in Hatboro-Horsham since 2014, she has held numerous roles within the district Over the last five years as Director of Educational Affairs, she has provided cross-departmental strategic leadership and guided district operations, instructional systems, and communications. In this capacity, she spearheaded significant districtwide initiatives spanning technology, construction, curriculum, instruction, staff development, and comprehensive planning.
In addition to her district-level executive leadership, Dr. D’Angelo brings valuable building-level experience, having served as the principal of Pennypack Elementary School and assistant principal at Keith Valley Middle School. She began her educational career as a teacher in the Lower Moreland School District. On a personal note, Dr. D’Angelo is married and has a 16-year-old daughter.

A Collaborative and Respectful Leader
Throughout our comprehensive search process, which included significant input from staff, parents, and community members, Dr. D’Angelo earned strong support. This reflects the collaborative, respectful leadership and communication our district values, qualities that were a central priority for the Board. The School Board was supported in this extensive search by the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, and we were fortunate to interview numerous highly qualified candidates.
Looking Ahead
Dr. D’Angelo is excited to meet our school community. She will be in attendance at the April 20 Board meeting, and will be scheduling times to meet with staff, parents, and community members in the coming weeks. Please join Board President Carolyn Riley and the entire Jenkintown School District Board in warmly welcoming Dr. D’Angelo to Jenkintown.
We also want to extend our deepest appreciation and gratitude to acting superintendent Steven Van Mater. He has led the district with fidelity and great care over the last several months. Mr. Van Mater will return to his prior role of Director of Curriculum and Human Resources this summer.
